Urogenital microbiota analysis

Filter

FloraCheck PCR kits are designed as a versatile tool for assessing the composition and balance of the human urogenital microbiota. These kits enable the detection and quantification of a broad panel of microorganisms — both beneficial (lactobacilli) and potentially pathogenic (opportunistic and pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and protozoa) — from a single clinical sample, typically a vaginal, cervical, or urethral swab. The core technology is real-time PCR (qPCR), which amplifies and quantifies specific DNA sequences unique to each target microorganism. By comparing the amount of DNA from individual bacterial species against the total bacterial mass (total DNA) present in the sample, the test calculates the relative abundance of each microbial group as a percentage. This quantitative approach distinguishes normal microbiota states from dysbiosis, including bacterial vaginosis or aerobic vaginitis, more precisely than traditional culture-based methods.
